Q&A: How do i stretch out my cheerleading jumps?

Question by cheerbabbayyx135: How do i stretch out my cheerleading jumps?
My toe touches are really good-past horizontal, but I want to get them even better.
My right herky (or hurdler) is really bad and I need drills for this!
My left is average, and I figure the drills for the right would work the same on the left.

stretch every day!
do your splits everyday.

to get your toe touches even better.
then do some jump exercises.
try this:
sit in a straddle and bring your legs slightly off the ground (still in the straddle form)
and circle your legs for 15 secs. (it will kill your hip flexers at first, but you’ll get use to it)
do this in sets of at least 4 everyday. THIS HELPS YOUR JUMPS SO MUCH! i promise.

for herkey,
stretch your legs.
work on height.
and do some heel stretches, and bow and arrows, or work on them.
so then your legs will be so flexible your herkey will be awesome.

i hope it helps.

the main thing it just to stretch. do splits and once you can go all the way down try sticking a pillow or mat under your back foot. when that gets easy add more pillows or get a thicker mat. stretch your back a lot by doing bridges and walking your hands as close to your feet as possible. for balance they make a thing where its flat on one side and half a ball on the other. get one and try to stand on one foot balanced in a heelstretch or scorpion. keep your head up and bring your leg to you to maintain balanced better. lock your leg out so your knee is straight for better balance. remember to stretch like crazy. good luck.
