What are the basic requirements for a cheerleader trying out in freshman year?

Question by C0RRII3: What are the basic requirements for a cheerleader trying out in freshman year?
I live in Katy,Texas (USA) so…What flips should I be able to do? Is flexibility something major, or should I worry less about that? Is the try-out dance hard? ALSO, I had been in both gymnastics and cheer for four years prior to the beginning of sixth grade.

In order to get on JV at my school you have to have a back handspring. For varsity you have to have a back tuck.
Flexability is important, because good jumps definetely get you noticed. I don’t know if your try out dance will be hard, I don’t go to your school.
Just try really had to get noticed, basically.

first off, its really cool you want to become a cheerleader(:
its takes alott of effort and time, but since you are a dancer it will come easier

the jumps tumbling and stunts all depend on what level team your on

ex: level one teams have toe touches, left/right hurdlers, and pikes for jumps. cartwheels, walkovers, andround-offss for tumbling. And as for stunts no head over hip rotation.
