What are the tumbling requirments for cheerleading tryouts at your school?
I know that they’re different at every school! I’m asking what they are at YOU school. 🙁 Don’t waste you time telling me they’re different at every school.

At mine they are optional for a spirit team but tumbling adds some spark to your tryouts. Competition requires at least a back handspring or back tuck.

Q&A: What is the most advanced tumbling allowed in high school cheerleading?

Question by sara: What is the most advanced tumbling allowed in high school cheerleading?
As far as UCA cheerleading goes, what is the most advanced tumbling skill you can do? (Regardless of division.) We’re just performing on mats, not springboard or anything. So what is the most advanced skill you can do? The most I’ve seen is a round-off backhandspring full twisting layout. Is there anything more advanced than that??

Best answer:

Answer by Kaitlyn W
A full is the most advanced, you can’t do doubles.

Q&A: What are some ways to get over a fear of tumbling in cheerleading?

Question by Arynn: What are some ways to get over a fear of tumbling in cheerleading?
To make the Varsity cheerleading squad at my school, you have to do at least a standing backhandspring. But I am scared to death about going backward! What are some tips about getting over that fear?

Best answer:

Answer by beentheredonethat
Take an actual tumbling class at a local gym. Have a coach who can spot you consistently and who can train you on a safety belt (which allows you to get the hang of going backwards with no threat of hurting yourself from falling). Call local gyms and be very specific with what you are looking for when you ask questions. Go for the one that is most eager to help you meet your personal goals.

Good luck!
