Question by Arynn: What are some ways to get over a fear of tumbling in cheerleading?
To make the Varsity cheerleading squad at my school, you have to do at least a standing backhandspring. But I am scared to death about going backward! What are some tips about getting over that fear?

Take an actual tumbling class at a local gym. Have a coach who can spot you consistently and who can train you on a safety belt (which allows you to get the hang of going backwards with no threat of hurting yourself from falling). Call local gyms and be very specific with what you are looking for when you ask questions. Go for the one that is most eager to help you meet your personal goals.

Good luck!

    Hey there!
Ok the best thing for you to do is to see a tumbling structor at a gymnastics gym or a local cheer gym. if youre not sure where to look, call the local university near you if there is one and talk to the gymnastics coach.. they would know of some places to go as well.. now once you start working.,… DONT RUSH .. take your time and do all of your progressions… its not a race.. its a marathon so take your time and undestand everything you do.. and lastly .. dont be affraid or if you are .. never let them see you sweat… Act as if you can nail what you need to and guess what? you will! Great luck and on a personal note.. i went through the same thing 😉 it will pass:)
