in cheerleading you CHEER like chants and stuff and they do stunts like holding people and throwing them in the air. while in gymnastics its usally more dance related and u do floor stunts (which u also do in cheerleading) and in gymnastics there more contortion (bending the body, being flexible like a face frame etc.)

I reluctantly volunteered to coach my daughters little league cheerleading squad. Now I find out that we are going to a competition in september, and I have been given a rule book that we must do 2 chants and 1 cheer in a 3 minute limitation.
what is the difference in a chant and a cheer. could some cheers also be considered a chant?
Should we mesh them all with just claps in between or are they to be separate and distinct of one another.
please please help!

chants are repetitive (ie. crowd lines let’s go team HHS and then repeat) and don’t really have elements other than arm motions, while cheers are usually long and tell a bit of a story (ie. the storm is coming there’s no way out. Hurricane all-stars, the best no doubt) and are usually more complex

My friend has this bet with another friend of his about how a cheerleader is supposed to stand in between cheers (as far as where their arms/hands/legs are supposed to be) at a sporting event (in particular high school or college). I told them, I’d ask the question online and try to settle the bet. If you can be as specific as possible, I’d appreciate it, as $ 20 is on the line. Thanks!

Sometimes I watch America’s Next Top Model, and the judges (especially Nigel Barker) might say “she’s pretty but she’s more cheerleader pretty, not model pretty”

I think cheerleader pretty is just a really pretty girl. A model pretty is a pretty girl with some slightly exaggerated features (like really big eyes and pronounced cheekbones).

Power cheer is like a dance team and normal cheer is just cheering at games and pep ralleys and your school may compete at compations

If you’re just going into high school, you need to try out for Junior Varsity. Those are mainly 9th and 10th graders. Varsity is usually 11-12th.
