How can I REALLY stand out at cheerleading tryouts?
Question by ali: How can I REALLY stand out at cheerleading tryouts?
Jumps and tumbling don’t count for anything, really. It’s basketball and we sit the whole time.
I’m just as good as the other girls or maybe even better. I haven’t done cheerleading at my school before so I’m afraid that they’ll just keep the same girls just because they know each other. I want this more than anything and I don’t want to be overlooked just because this is my first time going out for it. What special thing can I do to really stick out in the judges’ minds?

What is the correct way for a cheerleader to stand in between cheers? Arms/hands/legs?
Question by Jim S: What is the correct way for a cheerleader to stand in between cheers? Arms/hands/legs?
My friend has this bet with another friend of his about how a cheerleader is supposed to stand in between cheers (as far as where their arms/hands/legs are supposed to be) at a sporting event (in particular high school or college). I told them, I’d ask the question online and try to settle the bet. If you can be as specific as possible, I’d appreciate it, as $ 20 is on the line. Thanks!

Both should stand facing the game/action with their backs straight (no slouching) and a girl should be in “cheer position” with feet (mostly) together and hands fisted/on hips, a guy can be a little more relaxed. Clapping is okay but you know, digging at your butt or checking out your fingernails would not have been accepted at IWU in Indiana
