If you’re just going into high school, you need to try out for Junior Varsity. Those are mainly 9th and 10th graders. Varsity is usually 11-12th.

Varsity is the most advanced level of high school cheerleading. they are usually the ones who cheer for games and do competitions. they are the main team. Junior Varsity is pretty much close to varsity but not quite the same level. if i were you i would try to get into varsity.

It is usually age and skill level.

JV: usually 9-10 graders and intermediate tumbling and stunting.

Varsity: usually 11-12 graders and advanced tumbling and stunting

A lot of schools use back handspring for JV and back tuck for Varsity.

Dont be a first year varsity! You’d get sick of doing it for 4 years with older people. Varsity requires in most schools a higher age (Sophmore-Senior) and skill level (A standing BHS is prob. not enough).

I’m assuming you don’t have any experience so I would say JV. JV teams cheer for the jv basket ball and football teams. They are also more for lower class-men.
