I need to make sure I eat something filling that won’t make me sick, because I will be running and jumping shortly after. On a regular morning I’ll have a bowl of Special K Red Berries with frozen blueberries and a banana on top.

I’ve got a little less than a month before tryouts for JV cheer. I NEED to get a great toe touch jump, as well as splits. How can I prepare?

You need to try and strecth every day, and you will have these in no time!

for toe touches:

do leg lifts. sit in a straddle and put one hand in front and the other in back. raise one leg at a time a few inches from the ground then back down without touching to floor. do about fifteen on each side then try the middle with both legs.

sitting to touch: lay on your back in your straddle and a high v. then at the same time, bring your legs up and your chest up into your toe touch position and come back down. this gives you the feeling of doing a toe touch and will increase height.

butterfly stretch: (you probably know what this is) lol

splits: have a mat or something (I use a suitcase LOL) like a foot off the ground to help stretching

both knees bent: put one foot on top of mat in a ninety degree angle and the other behind you in a ninety degree angle. try to make a mini split with you hips and push on your forward knee with your hands. hold for 30 sec. on each side and keep your hips forward!

one leg straight: have one foot on the mat and one foot behind you in a 90 degree angle. lean back so only your heel is on the mat. try to sit on your back leg a little and touch the mat with your hands. hold for 30 sec. on each side.

both legs straight: stand up with one leg on mat and other behind. the back foot can be turned out if needed (mine always is). try to touch the mat and hold for 30 sec. on each side.

middle splits:

wall sit: sit with your butt against the wall and your back on the floor. put your legs on the wall and go into a straddle. hold for 30 sec.

SPLIT TIME!! :): go into your splits, in between two objects if you need to. try to keep both legs straight and go down farther each time.
for middle split, try to go down as far as you can and put your elbows on the floor.

i am a freshman and im trying out for cheer leading next friday. I have been dancing since i was 4. I am not THAT flexible but i can do a back-bend and cartwheel, and getting close to my splits and toe touch. I just wanted to no any stretches or tips or anything like that?!? help!

Lol even the commentators were saying Simon has never had that many girls look at him & smile when the cheerleaders were behind him lol Maybe it was best you didnt see her, her eyes would have made your spine shiver. Poor thing.

it needs to be inexpensive and for a whole squad…..each girl gets a goody bag

Haha, thats a nice idea.
I dont know – but you could make a little sculpture of a little cheerleader out of sticks of gum. It would take a bit – but you can buy the foam sterofoam material in a craft store and cut it out in the shape, then get little toothpicks to put the gum on. With a little card on the bottom.

Or you can just get them little necklaces with cheerleaders or something to do with that on them.

You can do something with teamwork, so each person would get like a piece of a puzzle, and when they put it all together it would be a huge picture of the team, or a collage of the team with cute stickers and glitter and stuff over it. Each little puzzle with their faces on it, could be decorated like the girls personality?
You can go online to make personalized puzzles.

Sorry if you wanted something more simple, I get really creative in my gifts, because really those count more in my opinion.

i tend to be very nervous before a cheerleading competition (normal) right? but last competition, afterwards i threw up (luckily not all over the mat) but i wasn’t sick, i’ve tried deep breathing and just sitting down and thinking and going through the routine in my head, but still… how can i make sure i am totally chill before competition day?

what i do is practice in my room until I hit everything perfectly. (It takes only 30 minutes of practicing) and then I always feel extremely relaxed. Make sure that you pee right before you go on, that will also help relax your body. Don’t drink too much water during that day though.
