how do i relax before a cheerleading competition?

Question by lyssalaxo31: how do i relax before a cheerleading competition?
i tend to be very nervous before a cheerleading competition (normal) right? but last competition, afterwards i threw up (luckily not all over the mat) but i wasn’t sick, i’ve tried deep breathing and just sitting down and thinking and going through the routine in my head, but still… how can i make sure i am totally chill before competition day?

what i do is practice in my room until I hit everything perfectly. (It takes only 30 minutes of practicing) and then I always feel extremely relaxed. Make sure that you pee right before you go on, that will also help relax your body. Don’t drink too much water during that day though.

I totally know how you feel I have been doing cheer & dance for 9 years and I have been in about 20 competitions or more.Just calm down and breath slow in and out in and out.and if you mess up on your routine don’t show it in your face and don’t stop just smile and keep just keep going.

you probably threw up because you were tired.. cheer routines are really tiring!! the best way i calm my nerves before a competition is by turning it into excitement. think about showing off what you can do rather than hoping nothing goes wrong. picture yourself doing it and doing amazing. listening to upbeat music also helps right before you go on! good luck.
