How can I improve my cheerleading in one week before tryouts?

Question by anonymous: How can I improve my cheerleading in one week before tryouts?
I was in cheer in eighth and ninth grade, but didn’t do anything with it my tenth. I know if I put my mind to it, I can put the effort and dedication i need, but what should i do to be sure I have a fighting chance?

make sure you stretch A LOT! since you were a cheerleader before… deep down you still have your abilities, you just have to find them. also you should run a few laps around a track just to make sure you’re in shape. most people don’t realize but yelling jumping and doing moves at the same time takes a lot of work.also…
-practice your jumps just to get yourself warm(when you don’t jump for a while they tend to get lower)
-practice stunting by yourself(it sounds silly but do the 8 counts and do the movements that you would do in a normal stunt just to be sure that you haven’t forgotten what you’re supposed to do)
-if you can tumble PRACTICE! imagine not jumping in 2 years then deciding you’re going to do a toe touch one morning without stretching… it’s not going to get that high.
-last thing… watch a dance video and try to remember the moves to see if you can still remember dances fast enough.(another silly thing to do would be to play those games where you you have to match pictures in a certain amount of time online) it really does help!
***** just remember… yes you were a cheerleader before but someone can take your spot so work your but off to get to the top and i promise you’ll make it. some of the stuff sounds silly but it really does work. 🙂

P.S.~ dont be nervous…. and dont forget to smile PRACTICE THOSE FACIALS!
