Are cheerleading tryouts in your school hard to make?

Question by S: Are cheerleading tryouts in your school hard to make?
Do you enjoy cheerleading? What do you all do? Do you think I should try out?

Answer by Gabby M
yeah, sometimes the judges can eliminate you based on looks or not like you because you have a little weight on you. Its ridiculous! 🙁 Some of the girls got cut just as they walked in. They are pretty strict and you have to be able to cheer, REALLY good to be able to make it. maybe not all HSs are like that, but idk

How hard is cheerleading, and is it fun?

Question by Lottie: How hard is cheerleading, and is it fun?
I want to try out for the junior varsity cheerleading team for the winter, but I’ve never cheered before. I danced for about 4-5 years, but I’m worried that I’m too tall (5ft 8) to be a cheerleader, though I’m pretty light (106 lbs). Would it be hard to get on the team for someone tall, and is cheerleading fun?

Question by Joseph: Is it hard being a cheerleader in college?
I want to go away to college. And I want to try out for a college cheerleading team. Assuming I make the team, what difficulties will I face with which being a full time student and apart of the cheer team. Will I have time to study? And will I be able to get a part time job while doing both. Any answers will be great. Any opinions and/or facts that will be beneficial will help greatly. Thank you!

it’s constantly hard when you’re a college cheerleader. but that’s why you do it. if you really want to be a college cheerleader, it’s because you like it hard. big and hard, all the time. no one would want to be a college cheerleader if they didn’t want the big thick hardness that comes with it pounding inside them all of the time. oh yeah it’s hard.

so i do dance now.. i love it and i deff. won’t quit it. but i am thinking of going to another school and if i do i might wanna try out for cheerleading. i will deff. stay in dance no matter what.. especially if i make it so i can improve my moves but do you think that’s a too big of a transition? i might be moving to a diff. hs for my sophomore or junior year.

No, i actually recommend the change…when you do cheer leading, your experience in dance will help you do the more difficult routines and give you more flexibility. This will eventually make you captain of your squad one day.
