Q&A: What skills do I need to be a cheerleader?

Question by gymgirl: What skills do I need to be a cheerleader?
Okay my school right now doesn’t have cheerleading and I’ve never really cheered before but I was wondering, to do all star at age 14-18 or to be on a college cheer team what skills are required? I don’t know how to do much tumbling but I’m pretty flexible and I’ve done some gymnastics and dance before. Could I get good enough within a few years to do something like that?

yes. But tumbling skills would be a real plus. Also, any dance skills you may have. Being fairly fit, but that isn’t really most important. And having a cheerful disposition helps.

Yes, you could. If you work hard enough at it.

Q&A: Should I add my cheerleading coach experience to my resume to show management skills?

Question by Amy V: Should I add my cheerleading coach experience to my resume to show management skills?
I was a cheerleading coach for 4 years, 2 of which I was the Head Coach for the whole organization. I want to know if it would be a good idea to put that on my professional resume (Office Management) to show management experience?

What can I do to improve my Cheerleading skills?

Question by renee[loves 2 cheer]: What can I do to improve my Cheerleading skills?
I’ve never made the cheerleading team before. I’ve failed at tryouts two years in a row, and I’ve missed my freshman tryouts because I was out of town. But I’m not giving up. I started a cheer tumbling class a couple of months ago to work on my skills, but what can I do to help out my tumbling and my jumps? (like exercises) Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Most of the time it earns you more points when you know your back handsprings and especially your back tuck so i’d say you should learn those if you havent already. And for flyers its mostly the lightest people.
