Q&A: Should I add my cheerleading coach experience to my resume to show management skills?

Question by Amy V: Should I add my cheerleading coach experience to my resume to show management skills?
I was a cheerleading coach for 4 years, 2 of which I was the Head Coach for the whole organization. I want to know if it would be a good idea to put that on my professional resume (Office Management) to show management experience?

i would skip that… unless it was with in the last year. When it comes up in the interview, you can mention that.

Definitely mention it. Since you were the head coach for the whole organization that is a great way to show that you can handle running a rather large job. Be sure to list specific duties that you had to manage, and coordinate. Also, for your interview, here are some interview questions that may come up, that you will want to have an answer for ahead of time:

What was your most memorable experience as a manager?
Was there ever a situation where a customer needed help, but it wasn’t easy to answer the customer’s situation?
Did you have to fire anyone, and if so, how did you handle it (if you never fired anyone, mention that, but mention how you would go about handling it)?
What is your best quality as a manager? What is your worst quality?

Good luck in your job search! 🙂
