Would my cheerleading jumps increase height in a week?

Question by Vanessa: Would my cheerleading jumps increase height in a week?
I only need one more week till cheerleading tryouts is there anything i can probably do to increase the height of my jumps a tad bit or maybe even clean them. Also another question i wanted to ask do muscles help the height of your jumps?

Yes, muscle does help the height of your jump, do a lot of sit ups to tighten your abs .
your ab muscles are what bring the height in your jump .
also before the jump don’t double bounce . stay on the tip or your toes, then go into the jump .
and stay tight, don’t lean forward . and look forward .

but it is possible .

i think muscles do help the height. if you pull with your arms and abs, your jump will get a lot more height. also, try doing jumps on a trampoline, that gives you a lot of airtime and you can really whip your legs up. Seriously, if your friend has a trampoline, use it. even video tape yourself and correct your mistakes as you go.

i found that my toetouch improved immensly after learning to do a toe touch basket toss. if you are a flyer, i would definitely reccomend trying it, and if you arent, look at videos of good flyers to see their technique. in a basket you have to ride it to the top, and quickly snap yourself into a toe touch, and then arch and cradle. but the snapping motion really helps you learn how to get your legs up and down right. and i learned how to pull my legs up with my arms and my abs too. the height of my jumps overall, and the height of my legs has gotten a lot better just by doing baskets.

Well if were talking about the form of your jumps, you can definitely fix that by tryouts!!! The flexibility related to jumps can also improve a little, but the strength may not come by then, which dosent mean yous shouldnt start working on the strength, but I would say the most valuable thing to work on is form, remember your jump starts with the prep, make the clap clean and make sure you dont double bounce, dont let your feet leave the floor before you do your jump. Now control your arms through the swing and stop them at the tee, keep your chest up and legs straight, toes pointed. Turn your knees up pull them back. slap clean and land with your feet together. hope that helped 🙂
