the only thing you can do is work at it your hardest. when i was trying to get my backhandspring it took a long time just to get your body used to it. it really helps to get coaching so they can give you tips on what your doing wrong or to spot you..you could try doing on a trampoline just to get the form down, its a lot less sacary than on the ground. when you go, you have to give 100% and be fully commited to it. other wise it wont turn out as well. focus on pushing through your legs when you jump, keeping your arms straight and your shoulders pushed up, and look at the ground when you jump back. good luck hope it helps! =]

ok honestly if you know that you are strong enough to do a back handspring without getting seriously injured then you need to just throw it on yourown that way you wont be afraid to do it anymore but if you wait to long to throw it by yourself then you will be to afraid to do it there is a girl on my squad who lost her back handspring and i suspect she lost it because she didnt practice her back handspring regularly and now it been months and she has scared herself out of doing it. So see if you can get someone to spot you a couple of times and then when you know youve got the form right just have someone stand next to you but not touch you and just do it by yourself. tumbling is mainly muscle memory so as long as you have the form right you will be able to safely pull it off. The hardest part of learning a back handspring is just getting the guts to throw it on your own. What really helps me when im trying to do a new trick on my own is, I visualize my self doing it on my own then I think to myself will i be able to at least do this without getting seriously injured? and if the answer is yes then i just throw it before i have time to talk myself out of it and to be honest with you ive never been seriously injured tumbling when i do those two things in my mind. trust me on this, last school year (freshman year) was my first year of cheerleading and everyone on the squad had cheered since they were little kids so naturally they all had good tumbling and were good at cheerleading so i had to learn everything (including a back handspring) quickly and now im ahead of a lot of the girls on the team. im sorry that this was so long and rambly but i had a lot to say on this subject lol. well anyways i hope i helped at least a little bit.
