What are some encouraging things I can say to girls trying out for cheerleading?

Question by ~Blonde~: What are some encouraging things I can say to girls trying out for cheerleading?
Im a Sophmore in high school and a cheerleader. Try outs are next week. My coach is having a couple of us go and talk to some of the eight graders that will be in high school next year who are considering trying out. They want us to say good things. Anyone has any good advice? What should I say?
Thanks in advance!

Let them know that they will be judged by what they bring to the floor, and not what they look like. I am in 8th grade and trying out for cheerleading next year. I am an all-star cheerleader, and I have never done school cheerleading before. I’m really nervous because I don’t know what it is going to be like. During one of the tryout clinics, the coaches and older cheerleaders told us that we will not be judged by our appearance, but our ability to help the team succeed. Them telling me this has actually helped me relax.

I want to learn how to get REALLY flexible, jumps, flips, etc. I also need to learn how to get toned so I can hopefully be a cheerleader in college. Thanx!

I’m not a cheerleader, I’m a dancer so I don’t know much about the flips and things but I do know that flexibilitiy comes if you just practice a lot. Sit in your splits at least 60 seconds a day each leg and do other stretches for one minute every day, very soon you will be able to do them so much easier than before! trust me! Good luck with cheerleading! You’ll do great!
