spilts are for drill team, mostly.
for cheer you sould learn the chants & cheers
and be able to (atleast) know how to do a cartwheel,
and have your flipflop. try taking a tumbling class.

EVERY school is different when it comes to try outs. For the most part they teach you a cheer, chant and dance. Any jumps you need and what ever else. But, don’t stress too much. Start strectching now for the splits. Go down as far as you can. Hold for about 2 mins (more would be great) I use to sit in the splits for about an hr (I’d be watching a show and texting…don’t try that) and soon it was a normal thing for me lol. Do this about 4 times a day. Each day go down a lil more. Remember to take slow deep breathes and relax. When you do finally make it all the way down (and you one day will) allow your body to relx into the position. It takes practice like any thing else.

Go to try outs with a mind set that says fun and I want to learn. I remind my girls daily that skill can be taught but a good attitude can not. So, if you can’t do something just say “I have not yet learned how to do that but I am willing to learn” NEVER say you can’t. You can do what ever you want to if you have the right frame of mind. Drink plenty of water. Do about 30 sit ups a day (that’s not too hard) and do about 20 push ups (that may be hard but you can do it lol) and run atleast a mile (if you can).

Rent some cheer videos and start to learn the cheers (they have a section for this) it will help you get comfortable with the whole cheerleding thing. Learn the dance too that way you will be a lil more better at picking up the steps. Smile and have fun. Let your personality show through. Don’t give up. Train hard and perform even harder. If this is some thing you really want then by all means do it. It looks fun and don’t get me wrong it is but at the same time it’s a TON of work! we make it look easy but, that’s not the case.

We put in a lot of work for it to come out clean and flawless. And for ppl to say whoa! that looks like so much fun. So, make sure it’s some thing you want cause it takes up a lot of time. Lets see, oh, and if you mess up just smile and keep going. Give it all you got and you will be fine. Try not to worry about what you can’t do. Practice the things you can do and make them even better. Best of luck to you. If you need anymore advice or what ever e-mail me.

Be sure to help the other girls (we notice this) and ask questions. Get a spot on the front row that way you can see every thing. Get there early about 10-15 mins (we notice that too) and ask for tips from the other girls that have been cheering. Keep your arms really tight too. And please cheer not sing the words lol umm I think that may be it. If you think of some thing you want advice on like I said e-mail me.

Strengthen your arm and leg muscles especailly your ab muscles. When I do a cartwheel I don’t look at my hands I try to follow my feet, this helps me when I am doing a cartwheel on a balance beam. So just follow your feet, don’t bend your arms, right when your first foot touchs the ground from a cartwheel one of your arms should slightly come up off the ground just a tad like maybe a inch or so. Ask one of your friends or maybe one of your cheerleader coaches to help you. Good Luck 🙂
    Hope this helps

Thats how you do a cartwheel i got best answer for it. You do need splits and cartwheel for cheerleading.
