Is eight months enough to train for cheerleading?

Question by Sunshine: Is eight months enough to train for cheerleading?
I’m pretty chubby, and wayy out of shape. I can barely do a cartwheel, but I want to make my schools varsity cheerleading squad next year (I’m too old to do junior varsity). I have to have a round-off, scorpion, heelstretch, full lib, back handspring, back tuck, and round-off-back handspring-back tuck layout. I’m going to start in January and cheerleading tryouts are at the end of august. Is that enough time?

If you are dedicated and coordinated then yes.

to be honest if you can barely do a cartwheel then getting your backhand spring will be very difficult. and getting your tuck will be next to impossible. start stretching A LOT. and work out. stretching in a straddle will help with your heelstretch and stretching with one leg behind you and one in front will help with your scorpion. practice a lot, a lot, a lot. maybe even take some private lessons. have a good attitude about it and it will come a lot easier!

    good luck girly!! 🙂 🙂
