How do i improve my cheerleading jumps?

Question by actingchick: How do i improve my cheerleading jumps?
I have a nice base to my jumps, my set up is fine and i can almost do my side splits (my center splits is still off.) I just started and my jumps are already improving. But my ankles arent very steardy. Also, i dont know how to improve my backbends and trust myself more (when doing anything that i have to throw myself into like back handsprings) What can I do?

I do TKD, and jumping was/is really hard for me. I have to do a lot of aerial stunts though, for my sport, my instructor makes me jump rope every day starting with 200 skips and adding 5 more everyday.

trust me on this one hun, i was a cheer coach for 30 years before i retired, before you get the actual jump right first just jump high has you can and throw you body around. kepp doing that until you get real high then begin the proccess of conecting the hiegh and the form!~good luck sweety happy cheering=]

Seriously do tuck jumps each day they improve you heaps. i do aerobics dance and gymnastics and in aerobics t get our jumps higher we do a thing called 20-1 which is 20 pushups 20 situps 20 tuckjumps then19 pushups 19 situps 19 tuckjumps until you get down to 1. But you dont have to start at 20, people also start at 10. But doing tuckjumps each day will be good because strengthens leg muscles and also you are jumping and will get higher and higher. hope i helped!
