How do I get my cheerleading jumps higher?

Question by Animal Lover: How do I get my cheerleading jumps higher?
I’m currently a JV cheerleader who plans on trying out for varsity. My motions are really good, but my downfall is my jumps. Does anyone know any exercises I can do to have amazing jumps?

You could youtube it or google it.

That’s what i did i barley had my jumps then i watched a few videos on youtube for the exercises and looked on google and found a website i really liked and then BOOM!!! i got my jumps they were soo much easier well it took me about a week but it worked

    sit in a stattle with ur knees facing up. put on hand on the inside of ur leg and the other on the outsied, keeping your back straight lift ur leg up and down slowly with out dropping it all the way to the floor. switch sides and do both legs. yo might get a charlie horse but try to work through it. this will help you get hyperexstended jumps 🙂

    Do froggie/gorilla jumps. Works great! If you don’t know what they are done like this:
    Squat to the floor and touch your hands on the ground, the jump as high as u can and reach your arms all the way up. Works wonderfully!
    Also, just sit in a squat with your hands not on ur legs. I do it and is great.

    To get your jumps higher just do them over and over again KEEP PRACTICING and make sure you stretch A LOT! before you start and make sure you have the correct form for the jump. It will help you get more height in your jumps and they will be prettier!(:
    Another thing that can help you to get your jumps higher is this jump exercise: swing your arms (exatly like you would before doing a toe-touch) and instead of bringing your legs out into a strattle(toe-touch) keep them together, pointing straight down at the floor, jump up and make sure your arms are locked and your toes are pointed! The more you do this the higher you will go with your jumps! &Good Luck!!(:

    I am an allstar cheerleader and jumps are a definitly a big deal! So here are some of the best ways to get jumps higher 🙂 If these dont help try looking at American Cheerleader’s website.

    -Leg Circles: Sit in a straddle and lift right leg and rotate it in circles 15 times. Then alternate legs. After you have done each leg do both legs at the same time. This will teach your body how to swing your legs in a toe-touch jump.

    – Arabesque Stance: Stand in an Arabesque position backwards. So stand with one foot on the ground and the other straight out in front of you. Then to a steady beat ( 5,6,7,8,1,2 etc.) rotate the foot around to a regular arabesque position. Repeat with opposite leg. This will stretch your hips and teach them to rotate in an unnatural way ( which is a good thing for a cheerleader)

    – Height Jumps: Pretty much speaks for itself. Stand about a 1/2 foot away from a bed or couch then jump onto it with straight legs together. Repeat 15 times. This will give you height on your jumps

    Here are some tips:
    -Chest high. This is probably the hardest of them all but keep your chest up

    -Pointing your toes is crucial. If you do not your feet will not be able to rotate in a toetouch way

    – Practice makes perfect♥
