You can use ankle weights for leg lifts, but not for jumping. You can really hurt yourself that way.

To get more air under you, do toe raises (calf busters) by hanging your heels off the edge of the bottom step of a stairway and then lifting up to your tippy toes, then drop back down again. Repeat 50 times. Also do squat jumps.

To get your legs higher in the jumps, keep doing leg lifts. Make sure you are doing the kind where you lie on your side and bend your legs like you are sitting in a chair. Then lift the top leg up and down like you are opening and closing a book. You can get a small hand weight and hold it on the outside of your knee as you lift. Also do them on your hands and knees, with your opposite arm bent so that you are resting on your forearm, then lift your leg like a dog visiting a fire hydrant. You can wear an ankle weight for that one.

Finally, you need to do ab crunch variations because it’s your stomach muscles that roll your hips and lift your legs.

    Good luck. :^)
