What Do I Need to Know For a Cheerleading Tryout?

Question by SPORTTTS: What Do I Need to Know For a Cheerleading Tryout?
I’ve been going to a cheerleading camp over the summer for about 3 years now. I want to try out for the school’s cheerleading team. In my camp, they don’t teach us herkies or anything, so could you just give me a list of things they will expect us to do at the tryout.
-Thanks

Ask the team coach what the requirements are. You need to know up front if you have to have any tumbling skills, because some teams tell you not to bother to try out without a back handspring or tuck.

There’s a list here of things you might need to do at your tryouts:

As for the tumbling drills stick with the safe ones like handstands and bridges. Actual tumbling should be done in a gym with a qualified instructor, but doing drills every day will help you learn your skills so much faster.

    Good luck!
