to help with jumps, make sure to stretch EVERY SINGLE DAY. also, make sure to do high kicks with both legs. this will help make your legs more flexible, which in the long run will make them higher(:

to practice on other things, like cheering, make sure to yell out of your stomach and not your throat. you can tell if your doing it right by lying on the floor with your stomach on the ground. then simply yell a cheer(; if your stomach moves up and down, you are doing it right. this will help you be louder.

for the tumbling portion, try going to a tumbling gymnastics class at a local gym. the most important tumbling skill in cheerleading would most likely be a round-off back handspring.

lastly, make sure to run laps around your block or really anywhere for that matter. this will build up your endurance, since cheerleading is such a tiring sport. your stamina will increase, helping you not get tired as fast.

ALWAYS SMILE AND AT LEAST LOOK LIKE YOUR HAVING FUN! lol peeace .

1.) Start with your Hamstring stretches – Your hamstring muscles are the biggest problem when it comes to flexibility, so it’s good to isolate them right away. Start by standing with your feet together and bend down to touch your toes (keep your legs straight). NOw go to a wall, place both hands on it and stick one leg bend forward and one leg straight back in a lunge position. Keeping your feet flat on the ground, focus your attention again on your hamstrings remembering to alternate each lunging leg.

2.) Half stradle – Sit with one leg forward and 1 leg bent. Stretch straight down to your straight leg while making sure it does not bend

3.) Bent knee straddle forward – Start in a straddle with bent knees, and grab your toes. For the stretch, straighten your legs to full extension if possible and stretch.

4.) Forward Straddle – Start in a straddle and reach down in front of you, remembering to keep your legs straight

For the best way to improve you and your team’s motions, just do this…….LOOK IN A MIRROR.

It sounds easy and it works. By watching yourself OR having your team watch themselves. You/they will see where they are hitting their motions and how they can improve them.

When they open the door for you to go in, run, tumble, yell and smile! Show the judges all your enthusiasm.

SMILE! The judges want to see how much fun you’re having. Don’t have a fake smile though! The judges can tell when you aren’t pumped up, you have to show them all your spirit.

Be loud when you yell. Have sharp, clear words. Make sure that the judges can understand you.

Have confidence when you are trying out. Even if you mess up or aren’t sure, don’t let the judges know it. They usually don’t notice if you mess up unless you freeze and yell, oh no!! Just smile and keep going.

If you’re unhappy with your performance don’t show it until you get outside. Don’t let the judges know. Chances are, you didn’t do as bad as you thought you did.

If you don’t make it, don’t give up on being school spirited. You can still join other school activities along with supporting your school’s cheerleaders. I think you have a pretty good shot of making it! I know this is alot but just take a deep breath:) I wish you all the best of luck.
