How can I becme more flexible for cheerleading, and do the splits???

Question by StrawberryCupcake: How can I becme more flexible for cheerleading, and do the splits???
I am joining cheerleading soon and I really want to become more flexible. I try stretches but it isn’t working unless I am doing it wrong. Has anyone got any really good stretches to help me to become more flexible and do the splits???

My best friend cheered for 10 years and she always got really out of shape during the summer and would spend the last 2 weeks before school started stretching obessedly. She would loosen up in a matter of days. She would mostly just stretch while watching movies. She’d try to sit and touch her toes, lean backwards and touch her toes to her head. She said it was less painful because she was watching tv so she wouldn’t be thinking about it. I think she’s nuts, it always hurt me, but to each their own, right?

our cheer coach has us do wall-sits. you sit facing the wall, in a straddle, then you lay on the floor with your legs up against the wall, then straddle your legs, and let gravity help! you can do this when your watching tv or on the phone or anything else. it really helps! try and do it for at least 10 minutes a day. and after u finish for the day try sitting in your splits! i hope this helps

depends on the type of splits you want to work on… i’ve found for side splits its fastest just to go into the slits during commercials in 2 weeks i was completely in my splits 🙂

for the middle splits its easiest to lay on the ground but to the Wall and let your legs lay on the wall too. Then use your arms to push your legs to your limit and each day your limit will get lower and lower until your in your perfect middle splits 🙂
