CHEERLEADING……………….?

Question by Rainbow Child: CHEERLEADING……………….?
So I’m planning on joining the USYD Cheerleading team when I get to Univeristy (Sydney Uni team) but I haven’t got any experience with much gymnastics or dancing. Im fairly athletic, but then again I don’t know the important stuff. I’d probally be trying out for the team in 2013, and im 17 at the moment, so i’d be 20 then. Im a guy by the way.

The USYD team is level 4, and i’ve already contacted one of the cheerleaders, and they told me to learn hand springs and lifts.
So im joining a gymnastics class,
but is there something else I could do to reach my target. Also I’d probally be going to cheer camp next year.

Is there any possibilty that I could learn the lifts and get enough experience to join a level 4 team in pretty much 2 years?

Any advice or help is appreciated and welcomed.

Thankyou

Well since you’re a man, the first thing you should do is have surgery to remove your penis because you obviously won’t be needing that anymore.

It’s a fact that guys learn and pick up cheering way easier than girls because they are so naturally athletic! Two years is PLENTY of time to learn the lifts and tumbling skills for a level 4 team, you can definately do it if you put in lots of time and commitment. First off, I would suggest you joing a gymnastics and tumbling class to get flexiblility and some tumbling skills. Stretch everyday and work on your splits and backbends. You can google and youtube some cheerleading stretches to do everyday- they really work!
    ALso, for lifts, start lifting…weights!
ALso, see if there is a cheergym in your area that has AllStar cheerleading. It’s a good idea to join a team there to get some experience in your free time, but they do also offer camps and clinics for all aspects of cheer.

You can do it! Good luck!
