What can I do to prepare for cheerleading tryouts next week?

Question by mallorycat [RIPMJ]: What can I do to prepare for cheerleading tryouts next week?
I signed up to try out for school cheerleading next week. I am in 6th grade in middle school. I have no experience with cheerleading but I have some experience in dance. I know how to do a back flip and front flip and I am slim. I know how to backbend. I’m working on my air flips. Are there some stretches or work outs I can do to prepare for try outs or can you tell me what to expect at try outs?

Good luck. Try to do the splits. If you could do that you are in!

Also, try to show some enthusiasm when you tryout and make sure to get along with the returning cheerleaders. Some of this is chemistry. You will be spending a lot of time when each other so if they think you will not fit in they will makes things hard for you during tryout.

to be honest, the only inexperienced girls i have seen make a cheerleading team were competitive dancers that were really flexible and caught on fast. so, you NEED to work with someone you know who cheers to develop the basic skills. I would recommend stretching, doing crunches, and doing pushups daily. best of luck!

im a 7th grade cheerleader and i know how stressful before the tryouts felt. since you can do all those flips you should be able to be in. if you have any thing good like that show the cheer coaches that you can do it at the tryouts.

Workouts: there are many workouts, but touching your toes is probally the best. Because it helps you with your eagle spreads, pikes, school jumps, and hurdlers. and youll need to do those at the tryouts. so good luck youll love cheer:]

sounds like you have a great shot :]
remember to be enthusiastic at try outs, and most of all – SMILE!
be confident. judges want confidence. make some noise when rallying, but don’t “woo”. maybe once or twice is alright, but its not a good habit.
toe touches are great stretches. and work on jumps. before you go to try outs, make sure you know your basic positions, (high V, low V, T, etc.) it’s best to know all this so you don’t get lost at try outs.

good luck, i’m sure you’ll make it sweetie :] and don’t over stress about it! go in there like you’re gonna win it.

    SMILE!!! 😀
