Front Walkover Tutorial for Dance, Cheerleading and Gymnastics Training

www.fitforafeast.com Front walkover gymnastics tutorial – how to do a front walkover. You should master your bridge first, then practise the front walkover using some of these tips. We had alot of requests to make a video about how to do a front walk over so hope this helps! It is best to practise on mats or a softer surface with nothing in the way you can bump up against. Start with bridges and the half way steps until you get comfortable. As with any gymnastics exercise you want to warm up muscles first with some stretches and go at your own pace so you avoid injury. See some of our stretching videos on more tips for warm up exercises. Front walkovers may be considered ballet moves in dance too or they are called kickovers. Cheerleaders, dancers and gymnasts perform front walkovers as part of their routines.

@itsArocking2010 Most likely it is your stomach muscles trying to work hard, but check with your doctor

@GeorgeHarrisonLuver1 Try rocking or popping your heels & make sure your hands aren’t too far away from your body.

@PaulaFan1993 Make sure you train on a mat, grass or carpet – so it is a softer surface. Practice handstands and recovering from bridges – those 2 skills make it easier to do the front walkover

@myoka1 You have to build flexibility in your back – like anywhere else. Practice the exercise at the end, where you just do the bridge part with one foot up and then recover. You can also watch our video on bridges for more tips

@LeeannaChui Make sure you try on mats or a soft surface & try working with a partner who can help you get your legs over, so you can get used to the motion

@22yer You should probably get help while trying. You shouldn’t do it on your own at first either you should have someone help you until you get the hang of it and even then you should have someone watching or spoting you in case of emergency.
For now i would rest it and if it doesn’t get beter within 5 days or if the pain gets worse i would go to the docter.

@dogsrcool099 Practice the last tip we give in this video where you go backwards & hold your one leg up. It will help you build strength & balance. If you can, ask someone to spot you to help you recover so you aren’t nervous & get used to the motion

  13. fitforafeast

@22yer 1) make sure you do this on mats or carpet 2) ask someone to spot you so you don’t fall over 3) try practicing back bends against the wall & some of our other tips in the backbends video. Good luck!
