Try to find a cheerleading class or cheer for the local pop warner football teams in your area. You will need to have experience to be on the squad and also maybe you should think about taking a gymnastics class to learn flip flops. Good luck.

Yea, I’m a guy, haha, but my ex cheered in school, elite squads, and now in college. To make any cheer team your judged on a few criteria: Cheer(your going to need to make up a cheer to perform), Spirit(how motivated and cheerful you are while performing), Dance, Tumbling(passes like round-off, handspring, backhandspring, etc.), and stunting(if your school allows it). You can work on your own to improve and develop the first three, but try and find some local schools that teach classes. Even Elite schools have intro classes, and most YMCA’s or athletic oriented facilities provide classes at a reasonable price. Also, start talking to girls that are already doing it(exiting seniors would be best, because you won’t be competing with them) they more than likely know a good instructor/program in the area. Best of luck!

check out your local gymnastics place… they usually have a tumbleing/cheerleading coarse. thatll get you flexible and prepared from tumbling… its a little pricey. otherwise check out your local recreration club they might have somthing for you.

Attend gymnastics if possible you have to do summer saults and back flips and shake your but alot.If you can handle roller coaster rides being flipped around you can survive cheerleading.

    GO FOR IT SISTA!

    Cheerleading…..

Are you looking to do YELL SQUAD or SONG SQUAD? (I don’t know if your high school has both or not). Mine did. And if you have a dance background, you will love Song Squad (pom pons, lots of dance moves). Yell Squad at my school used megaphones sometimes and sometimes, just doing vocal cheers, along with stances/climbing, splits, jumps, leaps, etc.

Either way – get your flexibility going (aside from whawt you already know from dance).

I suggest pilates or yoga. Why? Trust me – you will be glad when you are older that you did this – because I DIDN’T and now have awful ‘cheerleader stretch marks’ on my legs.

If you are trying out for a yell squad – start practice using a resonant voice so you don’t strain your vocal chords and do damage to them. Practice breathing (you may laugh, but trust me on this) — it’s hard to jump around, dance, do cheer moves and yell loudly, clearly, at the same time – doing constant cheers and moving (it’s why some music artist have done lip synching – because dancing around and trying to sing is hard)…. try doing yells. It’s harder. Especially if you are jumping, leaping, doing arm movements, flipping and yelling, too.

So do long vocal exercises… try reciting poems out of a book with a clear and concise voice, while moving around…. if you can get it all out vocally without losing your breath, you’re on your way.

Have fun, stay positive, and keep the spirit alive. Make sure when you re ready for tryouts that you do great eye contact, make your arm movements strong and sharp. Practice in front of a mirror. Remember, safety counts, too – be thoughtful of climbing, jumping, flipping and catching!

You may want to start working out a bit with free weights to build arm strength, if your squad does lifting, flipping, etc. Strengthen your back muscles, too (in case you end up being the base of the pyramid or stance).

Get in gear now and you’ll be fine! Good luck!! You’re gonna be great!

try taking tumbling or even a cheerleading class…you could also always join the dance team at your high school…good luck

as your reading or doing homework, or watching TV stretch. Whenever your bored and have nothing to do, stretch. Take ballet class (or another class that works on flexibility) to help with that(optional). Stretch a lot, but stretch properly, damaged muscles aren’t going to help you much in cheerleading.

    cool cheerleading is great
    – good for the sport

to get yourself ready for cheerleading i’d suggest that you do otherforms of dancing, such as:
    – ballet – for the streching and balance
    – hip hop
    – jive
    – and what others you’d feel would help

Try and go to your local tumbling/all-star gym and take some tumbling classes or some conditioning classes. Then when you’ve gotten the basics down take some private lessons to get better and better. Besides that, when you’re watching T.V. try and stretch/do some situps.GOOD LUCK you’ll do great!!! GO JAG CHEER!!!
