I want to be a cheerleader next year because I don’t think I’m good enough this year. I can barely touch my toes lol. How can I get super flexible by next year? Also, what do I need to know how to do before I try out? thanxx =]

Ive been cheering since middle school and I am a junior in highschool now….

Jumps:
– toe touch
– herkie
– hurdler
– pike

Tumbling
– back handspring
– round off back handspring
– standing tuck
– layout
– full twisting layout
* most of the time tumbing is not required

stunts
– elevator
– extention
-liberty
– arabesque
– heel stretch
-scorpian
– full up / full downs
* there are 1001 more stunts

cheer/chants/dance
– make sure your movements are sharps and percise
– always smile
– look into the crowd

and to achieve this you need to stretch everyday

You should try to take a gymnastics class if possible. Gymnastics skills are a MAJOR part of cheerleading and will help you out a lot. Also, try stretching a couple of times a day. The more you stretch, the more flexible you will become. You could try taking a stretch class, most dance studios and gyms have them!

    Good luck!

you dont have to be that flexible as long as you can do russians. you need to be able to do different jumps and be able to tumble
