Question by Amu: Do you think I can be a high school cheerleader?
I can do splits, scorpion, heel stretch, and a cartwheel. What else do I need to learn how to do? I can scream loud and get the crowd with me as well.. I’ve never done gymnastics before but I’ve danced since I was 8 till no which i’m 14. What else can I learn?

It really depends on the high school. I know at my school you have to have a round-off back handspring tuck to make varsity but at the school just across town, you don’t even need a standing back handspring.
Motions are always important. When I first started cheering I practiced hitting my motions in a mirror trying to be as tight and sharp as I could. There’s nothing worse than seeing cheerleaders with sloppy motions.
You sound like you’re really flexible so thats great! Make sure you work on your toe touch and other jumps (pike, hurdler, etc) because they usually want to see those at tryouts.
Good luck, I’m sure you’ll do great!
