First off, don’t stress! Don’t let your nerves get to you, but even if they do; don’t show it! Always have a smile on your face, and even if you completely mess up, keep trying and ALWAYS SMILE! Who ever is judging you will notice that you have alot of spirit and that you’re very cheerful!

Second of all, work on your flexibility, dancing skills, and tumbling skills if you have any! If you don’t have any of these, you might want to wait until next year to try out. These are probably the main things to be a cheerlader, although depending on where you are, you might not have to have tumbling skills, but it’s always good to know a little something!

Third of all, if they have several days of try outs (like they did for us) practice every night after try outs. Practice makes perfect!

Fourth of all, don’t get distracted. If there are a lot of other girls there that are really good at dance and can do a bunch of back flips, don’t let that freak you out! Even if you might not be as good as them, you still have a chance! Keep trying no matter what!

The main things are to smile a lot, be yourself, do the best you can, and don’t stress! Good luck!

just always smile and have a good attitude! if you mess up during the routine theyll only notice if you show it on your face. no matter how discouraged you get dont cry! its a huge downer if you do. and if you forget the routine make something up! it will show you have creativity! and that you dont just stand there looking dumb if you dont know something. and third talk to the coaches! introduce your self so they already know you when they see you perform.

Where I went to school, the cheerleaders were picked out
    by the student population.

They auditioned in the gymnasium and showed what they could do
doing their routines. Usually, popularity is a factor here at my school.

You have to take at least some kind od dance class to
    help out on movements, etc.
Having a good attitude on cheering would help…

If this audition is being done by a select committee of some
    administrators, teachers and such.
That may be a problem…Having a “select group” to pick out the
next cheerleaders for the next year in my opinion is pretty
narrow and to me NOT REALLY fair..
To me it is like having five or so U.S. Congressmen or Representatives
choosing the next President of the United States after the candidates tell
why they should be the next President.
