they’re a total joke. and if you only want to be a cheerleader to be popular, you know, that’s just sad and pathetic. you get to be popular by being NICE and FRIENDLY to people, not by doing a certain thing. it just makes you look silly if you have no friends as a cheerleader anyways. serious.

lol, the cheerleaders at my school are some of the most un-popular people. I still don’t get why none of the hot chicks join.

I do have to say though, I can’t stand cheerleaders.

most of em are hot, but they’re not always popular. the most popular people are the funny ones or the ones that have parties. don’t join just cause you wanna be popular, thats kinda sketchy.

but yea im a cheerleader and i dont think all cheerleaders are stuck up and snobbby. and stupid.

You don’t become popular because your a cheerleader you do it by being a nice person. As a cheerleader you do meet more people in all sports so people do get to know you but its depends on what kind of person you are.

Plus cheerleading isn’t easy you have learn how to tumble, stunt, dance, act positive. Its not something you just do. If you joining a good squad one that actually competes you might want to think of all the practices and dedication your gonna have to put in.
For example on friday your not out at the movies with friends your at the football game cheering every week.

Cheerleaders are different in each school sometimes there popular and sometimes there boring ones at the pep rally it all depends. Popularity isn’t that important you should focus more on finding friends you could depend on because being popular means you know a lot of people but it doesn’t mean there always there for you.

You don’t have to be a cheerleader to be popular though its all in your personality.

i was cheerleader in high school people knew who i was but didn’t exactly know me as a person. I just take cheer seriously and i think anyone who wants to join should do it because they like dancing, tumbling, and stunting not because they think it will make them cool.

I’m so sick of this stereotype. I do not cheer so that I can be popular or flounce around with all the boys. In fact, I cheer for All-Star and I rarely inform people that I cheerlead in the first place. For me it’s all about the sport and the competition. It’s a highly rewarding and difficult sport, and anyone who says otherwise should attend one of my practices.

haha! cheerleading is really fun! and no matter what anyone says, it is a sport!!!! at my school, the cheer team sucks! thats why i don’t cheer at school. but, even though they suck, they are pretty popular depending on the person. we have a mixture of girls and depending on their personality, they are for the most part, popular!
    hope i helped!

Hey! you so dont have to be a cheerleader to be popular.. just be yourself and if you want to cheer .. do it for the want to do something athletic…the popularity will come.. and if it doesnt so what, you will be a great athletic person:)

Cheerleading differs from nearly every sport because it is constantly evolving. Football, basketball, baseball; they don’t become more difficult from year to year, the game doesn’t change. Cheerleaders are constantly upgrading skills, tumbling passes become more advanced and stunts more elaborate, it has become highly competitive. The stereotype of ditsy girls bouncing up and down on the sidelines is outdated and inaccurate even if the stigma remains.

Of course there are really popular cheerleaders, there are also unpopular ones and everything in between. Popularity and cheerleading have no influence on one another. If anything, it is probably because they are outgoing. Cheering has been a huge part of my life and a very rewarding one so I think it’s great that you want to get involved. That said, if your becoming a cheerleader is only motivated by some kind of expectation of popularity, you are going to be sorely disappointed.
