hi i tryed out for 7th grade cheer and i made it they said that people could only do a backhandspring or higher but i didnt do and tumbling.what they are looking for is someone who smiles, who yells loud and clear,is sharp, who gives 110% effort no matter how bad you are.when i tryed out people said wow to a backbend…so there will probubly be very few people who can tumble so i wouldnt worry about tumbling…but when you walk into the room where the judges are go runing in with a big smile and yell something like go (whatever your mascot name is) ,you can do it!!!,your number one or ect….thats what gets them excited about you!!!

When I tried out for JV Cheerleading in 7th grade is totally terrified because I couldn’t tumble and I made it. But I beleive that if you want it enough and do your absolute best at the cheers, dances, and jumps that anything is possible.

if you have a lot of time before try outs i would practice a lot. stretch every day, practice your jumps, be super sharp, and practice your cartwheel. maybe you can even take some tumbling classes, trust me they help a lot! my first year of cheer i didn’t know how to do any thing…and now im on varsity!

no offense to any of the people who wrote other comments below this one but that’s not true! sure you can make cheerleading if you’re lucky and can’t do tumbling but if you want to be the best you can be dance everyday for hours to your favorite song take tumbling classes and STRETCH!! take it from me all woman in my family have done cheerleading and my mom and great great grandma were captains I also do a lot of intense cheerleading training and i go to all my sisters cheer competitions because I’m starting competition soon

I wish you luck! <3,your cheer sister
