Q&A: What are some good songs for a cheerleading performance?

Question by Megann: What are some good songs for a cheerleading performance?
My team needs some help. The coach is a piece of crap and told us to find a song. We have already done Disturbia by Rihanna and Low by Flo Rida. Thanks in advance!

Avoid the top 6 Cheer Music Mistakes

Don’t use “Pre-made” cheer tracks for your routine music. This is always a bad idea. Other teams will have the same music…. and it will not fit your routine.

Trying to do your own mix. Don’t spend a hundred hours trying to learn how to make your music sound good. Leave it to the professionals and focus on what you do best!

Using your local “DJ” that knows absolutely nothing about cheer to make your mix…. This is a common mistake that many coaches make.

Local DJs are clueless about cheer music. We hear at least one horror story per week about how a local DJ failed to deliver a decent mix.

Themes: The problem with themes is that in order to make them work, you end up throwing songs together that should never be in a cheer mix. ( we CAN make themes work, but in general, they are a bad idea )

Using someone else’s cheer mix…. You may think no-one will notice… but they will!

Ok, this may seem wierd, but I saw a cheer using Welcome to the Jungle by Guns n’ Roses. It was really cool! And it’s also an original song.

Depends on the counts and what you need the music for. I cheer for an All Star team and the pace for the jumps may be different from the pyramid which is also different from the cheer itself. You should be a little more specific. Please send me an email with a little more about your routine and i would be happy to put something together for you. I love cheerleading, so helping you is not an issue! Good Luck!
