How do I become a better flyer in cheerleading?

Question by ***123musicQT***: How do I become a better flyer in cheerleading?
Tonight was my first time ever to fly in cheer leading. Our main flyer suggested that I fly, Im normally a base, and when I did, I shook a lot, I heeled it, I frogged it, I sat, and I put all my weight on one foot. How do I brake these habits? I have to fly in the match tomorrow night after only one night of practice. I want to do good so can anyone give me any suggestions as to how I can improve my flying skills.

The first thing you should do is have confidence in your bases and yourself. Literally stand tall with your head held high, knowing that if you fall, your faithful bases will catch you. I tell flyers to pick a high spot on the wall to gaze at. This keeps your head up and your body relaxed. Secondly, you want to suck in your butt and stomach, and tighten all your muscles. For weight distribution, you need to practice feeling what shoulder width apart feels like. Your bases may be too close, which will cause you to want to lean on one foot. You can correct this by telling your bases to move closer, further apart, drop one foot, or raise one foot. You get this through practice.

i am a flyer an my squad. ok so what you need to do is stay super tight, lock out your knees keep that totally straight. always trust your bases. spot up (look at something and stare at it when you are in a stunt and just focus on that thing and NEVER LOOK DOWN it makes it harder to balance.) stay tight in your abs, butt, arms, and lock out your knees but don’t stay to tight in your legs it will cause you to shake. think about squeezing a pennie between your butt cheeks it will help u stay tight and once you set and get ready to go into that air shove off of your bases shoulder really hard that makes it tons more easy for your bases and if your going to cradle never bend your knees once you feel that you are in the air pike, look up and the last thing about flying is NEVER EVER SHAKE EVEN IF YOUR SCARED DO NOT SHAKE!!!
