i’ve been cheering for awhile & these r pretty basic skills so don’t be too worried.
the easiest will be a high kick. basically just keep both legs straight. the one you are standing on stays still and the other one, you kick into the air. keep your toes pointed and as you kick, reach your hand/hands towards your pointed toe but try not to cover your face.

the next one is a little harder, but not much. doing a herkie isn’t so bad. a herkie is a jump. you keep one leg straight and the other is bent in half. it all depends on the coach, but some choose to do candlesticks with their herkies. candlesticks are when you make 2 fists and put them in front of you with your arms straight out. technique is the most important part of being a cheerleader. so even if you dont get much height, make sure to keep the toe of the leg you choose to keep straight pointed and keep your motions tight at all times.

the last thing might be the toughest but it depends how flexible you are. the best way to describe a backbend is making a halfcircle with your body. keep your arms straight and push your hips forward. watch your hands as you go down. the best way to learn this is to have someone spot you or to lean back near a wall and crawl your hands down it until you reach the floor.

If you were at my house i could show you but..internet is hard so youtube instructions and videos. Stretch before anything and keep your arms tight as well as your legs when kicking and jumping no noodle arms. And “snap” you legs together when you land
Before doing anything stretch really well.
back bends are very simple. lay on your back, put your hands beside your ears get on your flat feet and you will just go up into the back bend.
on my squad, we don’t do high kicks but i know how to do them. stretch your legs a lot and start kicking your leg out and over time it will become higher.
i love herkies! count 5,6,7,8 with your hands on your hips and clap on “8” do a high “V” swing your arms and jump with one leg straight and the opposite leg bent. point your toes
good luck! i hope you make it!
