If you don’t have a lot of experiance you might not make the team but I say go for it anyway.

It really depends on your school on what they require. Since your in gymnastics I assume you have or are close to a back handspring? Practice your tumbling and jumps (if you don’t know specific jumps like toe-touches, look up videos). I definitely say go for it! What do you have to lose? 🙂

Yes you definitely should. Cheerleading is a great way to get involved with the school and maintain good personal fitness, all while representing and cheering on your school. And no, you don’t need to have a lot of experience. Just know your basic jumps and motions. If you dont know them have a current cheerleader show them to you and practice them until they are very sharp and precise. Also, make emphasis on motion changes. And SMILE:) dont let nerves get to you!

Feel free to email me if you have any questions:)
    best of luck!

If you quit after a week, you might not like it this time either, but if you want to try, you’re fine. Just practice jumps and ask your coaches @ gymnastics what you need to learn. Good luck!

Do you really _want_ to cheer? Why did you quit last time and what do you expect to be different this time?

If you decide to go for it, then you need to find out what skills you need to have to try out. If higher tumbling skills is one of them you may have a problem, so talk to the coach and get the exact requirements for trying out. (Make sure you get info not just for Varsity but for J.V./Freshman too if those are also options in your school.) If you do need tumbling, sign up for a class right away.

This site has articles, pictures, and videos of skills and exercises to work on now before tryouts, and tips for what to do on the big day: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/basics.htm (Don’t try stunting or flipping skills without a trained coach, though.)

    Good luck! :^)
