public schools will usually require a faculty sponsor for their activities or sports, so it may be difficult to get hired on purely for that. I’d suggest going to some of your local gyms that teach cheerleading, gymnastics, or stunting, to see if you can get involved part time with them. Then maybe you can move up into a coaching position, and you’ll have some real coaching experience to put on your resume.

Or find a gymnastics gym or dancing studio that doesn’t have cheer, and see if you can promote yourself to be a new teacher of cheer, so provide the place with a new class: your cheer class.

Find a team that needs an assistant coach at a school, rec group, YMCA, or cheer gym. Running a team is very different from being a member of a team and it would be good for you to watch how an experienced coach does things.
