If I were you I would wear a pair of Soffe shorts and a baggie t shirt with a hair tie wrapped around the back. I would also know how to do splits(left and right) and cartswheels and round offs. And bridge. Good Luck!!

I have been to doing cheerleading for 5 years now.
Here is how you should dress:
(it might be a good idea to dress in your school colors)
    1. a tank top – http://www.soffe.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=11102&storeId=10051&productId=28204
    2. shorts – http://www.soffe.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=11102&storeId=10051&productId=27151&langId=-1&parent_category_rn=14258
    3. cheerleading sneakers – http://www.converse.com/#productdetail
    4. no-show white socks
    5. a ribbon (if you want) – http://www.cheerribbons.com/products/searchReturn.php?category=18

Depending on your squad, they might have different requirements then what I am about to tell you.

    1. basic jumps (ie. toe touch, pike, hurkey, hurdler, tuck)
    2. front roll, cartwheel
    3. other than those things they will probably give you a cheer or dance to perform
    4. make sure when you are doing the cheers you are loud
    5. make sure when you are doing the dance that you make a lot of facials
    6. last but not least, ALWAYS SMILE =]

    Good luck and have fun!!

wear some comfy clothes like clothes that are not too tight. and you should take gymnastics for flexibility.

You’ll need to start running and doing cardio: you’ll also need endurance for cheerleading. STRETCH! Stretching can work wonders for cheerleading. Stretch everyday…you may get sore if you haven’t stretched in a while. You’ll need to be able to do jumps, and stretching will help your height, along with a few other things. You’ll need a strong, loud voice. You want people to hear you. Tumbling might be required. You have to have tight arm motions, and corrects fists. Cheerleading takes up time, so be prepared for summer practices, fund raising events, etc. You WILL put alot of money into cheerleading. Shoes, socks, uniforms, ribbons, poms, mid-drifts, spanx, camps, competitions, etc. Find out when tryouts are. Start preparing early. Tryouts are nerve-wrecking. You’ll be nervous, but tell yourself that you can do it and you’ll make it. Have all tryout forms ready before tryouts. You’ll need to get along with the other girls trying out; you also want to stay on the coach/sponsors good side. Wear something you can move in!! You are probably not going to have to do splits for tryouts. Good luck and I hope you make it!!
