Too old to be start cheerleading?

I’m 14 and I’ve always loved cheerleading.I’ve had very little experince with cheerleading. I took one class on cheerleading when I was 11 but I didn’t feel comfortable because the others in my class were younger than me. I’m extremely shy and I have social anxiety. I want to take another class but it’s at the same place but for people my age. I’m just scared because I’m not athletic at all. I want to do it to make friends and build confidence. Any advice or suggestions? Am I too old to start?

Your deffinatly not too old to start. Most people start cheerleading when they are around your age because they try out for their school cheerleading team. I would say go for it and hope for the best.

    You’re not too old, i’d say you’re at the right age to start. If it’s really something you enjoy, go for it!! You’ve got nothing to lose. Good luck :D!

    i doubt you are to old. just sign up for jr varsity or the actual varsity. my frined signed up her senior year and she did pretty good =D

    14 is typically junior aged, but could also be on a senior team.

    There are levels 1 to 5, level 1 starting with cartwheels, roundoffs, and back walkovers, to level 5 which is jump tucks, fulls, and doubles.

    So there is still is a perfect level for you, also they just made a divison for girls that are starting late justl ike call called level 4.2 which is level 4 stunting and level 2 tumbling – it makes it easy to get your foot int he door.

    The key to starting cheerleading at your age is where you go, you need a good strong quality USASF certified gym. If you tell me your area, I can tell you one close to you – i know gyms all over the country.

    Secondly, I have anxiety problems – cheerleading helps me more then anything in the world.
