Q&A: Do they have seperate tryouts for JV and Varsity cheerleading?

Question by rissa: Do they have seperate tryouts for JV and Varsity cheerleading?
I was wondering cause I’ve seen people asking if they should tryout for JV or Varsity cheerleading, so do most public high schools have seperate tryouts for JV and Varsity??? Or does everyone just tryout and the judges/coaches decide who they want to put on Varsity and JV?
I know everything is different for every high school but I’m just wondering about most public high schools.

Most particular cheerleading does have just tryouts for cheerleading. At my school, there is only one tryout for the whole pep squad. I think that everyone just tries out and the coaches decides who’s better and who belongs to Varsity/JV.

hope this helps :]

well at my school that’s trying out is put into groups. like everyone trying out for freshman is one. JV and varsity are together cause you can make either one… but everyone has the same tryout cheer and dancee

At most schools there are just general cheer tryouts and then depending on skill level and/or grade depending on your school, they will place you on jv or varsity.

well at my high school they have everyone one try out and then the best 16 make it. those 16 cheer for football, and the best 8 of the 16 cheer for basketball.

at my school, there is a tryout for freshmen and a tryout for JV and Varsity together. its hard to imaging having separate tryouts for jv and varsity, but everyone might just be talking about what teams they would like to make. we fill out a sheet that we can check off jv varsity or both.
