No, do not push it. I know it’s not the answer you want to hear, but trust me from experience, if your injured TAKE THE FULL HEALING TIME. Talk to your coaches, and explain to them your situation. They may allow you to do some things, like cheering or handing signs and such. You could also probably work for your splits if it doesnt hurt.

But, please do not tumble or stunt with it.
In may you should go talk to your coaches and ask for a private tryout.
    They should allow you that.

That is something you need to discuss with your surgeon or specialist. I would say a good positive attitude and being as physical as your doc allows or is safe will help. Don’t be upset if things don’t work out for you with cheer leading…more important is health and body and mind. stay positive.

my best friend was a gymnast and had the same surgery and can no longer do back handsprings D: (well she would probably injure herself trying with metal rods in her back so she’s not going to) sooo if it’s middle school most don’t require back handsprings so you are fine. but if it’s high school tryouts you are talking about you can’t learn a handspring for it if it’s required…

yes you are still be able to do spits and cartwheels.

im really not sure, but if you had tumbling and all the skills prior, it will take pretty fast. my friend had surgery and could do her bhs tuck in little time. if you are on the right track but arent exactly to where you were prior to your cheer tryouts, talk to the coaches and let them know that you had just had surgery and you are working hard to get everything back.
