How can I become a cheerleader?

Question by Kaitlin: How can I become a cheerleader?
I’m 15 years old and next year I want to try out for the varsity cheer team at my school. I am in ballet and gymnastics but other than this have no experience cheering. Tryouts are April 2011 what should I do/practice/look like/ to make the team? Please help!

If you can dance well and if you look good you can try it out.. you can get more info from google.

    I personally wouldn’t want to be a cheerleader… but if you must know,

    Appearence:
    wear a ponytail, a neat, tight one.
    wear comfortable clothing (possibly jogging pants/sweatpants, loose tanktop, sportsbra, tennis shoes…)
    wear bright colors to be bold and stand out. (pink, green, yellow, or school colors)
    Wear little or no makeup because the sweat from the tryout will make it run, unless you wear waterproof
    Don’t wear too much jewelry. no one wants to hear the annoying jingle. earrings would be ok but I wouldn’t wear a watch
    Use deodorant, maybe light perfume
    get a tan
    DO NOT USE ARTIFICIAL NAILS those are a pain

    Do this:
    Smile, smile at everyone.
    STRETCH
    never show that you are tiered, when everyone else is tiered, stand up straight and tell everyone how hard they’re working
    say hello to the coach, maybe introduce yourself if you show up early
    “(school mascot)s for the win!!!” <- shout this do pushups. people don't realize how important upper body strength is. If you can do 20+ at a single time, you're good. Colleges respect soccer or basketball playing girls more than cheerleaders, but I hope this helps

    its good that you know gymnastics. i dont know much about it, but you should email the people in charge and ask what you will need to know for tryouts. work on your tumbling, and shouting with a big loud confident voice. also wear nice clothes but dont look like a slut or a scene dude. do your hair nice/pretty. make nice friends and be nice to everyone.
