You have to be FLEXIBLE or at least learn to be. Then you have to remember a lot cheers and which moves you would do for each cheer. Then if you do any air stunts, you have to learn to adjust to flying in the air or standing in the air and making cheers

Depends on your age and the team. You should at least be able to do a cartwheel and a round off. Sometimes they might want you to do a flip. You also have to be Flexible, LOUD, cheerful, and coordinated. You should also be a good dancer or know a few dance moves. Also, make sure your arms are priciest and know some cheers.

    1. Stretch alot, but don’t injure yourself while doing that.
Hold each stretch for 30 seconds at least otherwise it is pointless. Also sit inyour spilits (left, right, and center) for 1 minute each. Get a stretch routine down and di it twice a day at least! For sure before you go to bed.

    2. Practice jumps!!!! Practice your russian or toe touch, and right and left hurkees.
start all jumps by standing in an upright position with your arms in a high V and your hands in tight fists, make sure your fists and wrists are straight, and your fist should have the thumb side to the front. Then swing your arms into a “T” motion which is where they are straight out by your sides in a straight line, siwng while you jump up and execute your jump. For a toe touch both legs out striaght to the side (stretch in stradle for this) and POINT YOUR TOES! Then for left and right hurkees its the same as a toe touch but the other leg is folded in a way like your foot almost touching your bakc thigh but try it sitting down on the ground so you see how it is straight, and the other leg is the same as the toe touch.

    3. Do sittups and push ups a lot, and any other workouts you know of

    4. Practice being SHARP hit motions back and forth hitting them fast and clean, practic ein front of a mirror!

    5. Practice your facials nothing too crazy just cute smiles and such

Good Luck I hope you make it!! Cheerleading is the best decision I have ever made [=

    be:
    flexible
    strong
able to tumble (minimum backhandspring or SOLID roundoff)
    good at jumps
good base/flyer or whatever you are
    spirited
    nice to the other cheerleaders

    good luck!

You need to really want to be a cheerleader. Cheerleading isn’t about wearing short skirts or getting attention, its about promoting school spirit and having a ton of fun. Ok, that sounds like you? Now, you need to find a friend or someone to help you. Someone who has been cheerleading for a while and can help you with the dances and cheers. Most cheerleading squads hold a clinic during tryouts where they teach you a tryout dance, cheer, and go over basic skills. This is a great place for beginners. Returning cheerleaders will be there teaching and will answer any questions you have. Clinics are also a good place to figure out if you actually want to be a cheerleader. You might be naturally good at cheerleading or you might figure out you hate it. Either way, attend the clinic, get the info and decide if you wanna do it. After that, just practice, practice, practice. Work with another cheerleader and take pointers on what you can do to improve yourself. On the day of tryouts, do your best. If you don’t make it, you have skills that you can work on until next year and you can try it again!
Remember, cheerleading takes alot of dedication. If you don’t have alot of time to commit to it or if you think it will be easy, wait or don’t do it at all.
    Good luck!
