always stretch! flyers need to be flexible to do scorpions, bow & arrows, heel stretches, etc. you should also be able to hold up your own weight. lift weights and put your hands on a high table top and hold yourself up. you should also have balance! you can buy little boards (i forgot what they’re called, but you can google it) that simulate the flying experience. you have to trust your bases! remember that they have your life in their hands so don’t take over their jobs just because you feel insecure. the most important thing is probably strength. if you’re not strong enough to base, you certainly cannot fly. Flying requires soo much strength. It is more than just standing up in the air. Also, remember to keep your whole body tight: your knees, thighs, butt, and stomach should all be sucked in and super tight! Good luck! (:

More than anything remember to practice your counts before going up into the air, keep your elbows up and get on your tippy toes for the load in, don’t let your bum fall below your knees during the load push off, stay tight, let your bases do the balancing, and keep your eyes on the same spot. And do a lot of stretching like straddle twists, splits, and bridges so that you have the flexibility to hit your positions, first on the ground, then in the air.

There are tips and drills here that can help you: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/stunting.htm They are partway down the page.

    Good luck. :^)
