All my sisters were cheerleaders since they were 11 years of age and I have four sisters. They are 20 years of age and they still help out with Pop Warner Cheerleaders. If you have that exprience as a dancer it will definantly help a lot. My sisters told me that most of the time girls would get choosen, but they couldnt do any back-handsprings (which they say is one of the biggest accomplishments a cheerleaders can have) or they couldnt do the splits, but they got it because they had charisma. I think what most coaches look for is someone who is outgoing, very enthusiastic, a person that can get along with everyone on the team (because you know how cheerleaders can get), also someone who can get the crowd pumping. But having your cartwheels, handstands, and being loud is definantly a plus! Good Luck on your tryouts, I believe that you will do fine!

if its a high school team that u are tryin out for, u need to have ur roundoff down depending on the coaches standards but im pretty sure the roundoff is a must. if u only have a kartwheel just make sure u can do it flawless and that it looks pretty, also make sure your rebound is good after the kartwheel(the jump when u land), begin working on your motions and making them perfect, big e’s on the outside facing the crowd!! if u hav ne more questions just email me brunettegurlie_101@yahoo.com or look me up on myspace http://www.myspace.com/heatherdshea2011
