Q&A: My birthday is coming up and I wanted to get my belly pierced, but I start cheerleading the next week.?

Question by Chanel: My birthday is coming up and I wanted to get my belly pierced, but I start cheerleading the next week.?
I hear you shouldn’t get a piercing like that and then have practice like cheerleading because it a lot of movement and I don’t want no problems with my piercing. Is this true and should I still get it or wait?

yeah dont do it cuz watever position ur in for the stunting group, its really dangerous to have a belly button piercing cuz itll rip right out if it got caught, trust me.. It has happened b4! And ur not allowed to have any kind of jewelry on during practice or competion so i think its best to not get that piercing done right now. Cuz if u get the piercing u would have to keep it in or it will close up…also f u refuse to take it ot most coaches will just kick u off the squad ive witnessed it b4. S dont do it unless the piecring is more important than cheer 🙂

dont get your belly peirced… when you get older you will probably think it was a stupid thing to do and be mad that you have a hole in your belly. also you can get horrible infections and you are more likely to get infections if you are moving and being active and sweating, when the skin was recently peirced. But if you really want to… maybe ask to get it peirced as a early birthday present and explain why… Your parents will understand and will also be happy that you are looking out for your body and your hobby.

When I got my bellybutton pierced, it hurt even to stretch when I got out of bed for at least 5 days. Im a cheerleader too, and on my squad we have to take out all our piercing for practice, and if your squad is the same then you dont want your hole to close up. Besides, if your a backspotter or base, when you catch the flyer she could hit your piercing and possibly rip it out, I think you should wait to get it done.

I am on a cheerleading team(captain) and when I’m 13 I am getting my bellybutton pierced. But, if you do not take pain very well, do not get it pierced until you don’t have cheerleading. I would if you don’t mind he pain, but if so, maybe that wouldn’t be the best idea…

Don’t get it because one of my friends got hers and a day later we were tumbling and she did her backhand spring and when she finished her piercing had wripped out and there was blood everywhere!

well a lot of girls on my team have gotten theirs pierced and they put bandaids over them and wear tight tanktops under t-shirts to keep the bellybutton ring in place and it doesnt seem to bother them

i waited over a year to get mine cause i had cheer practices, camps, games, comps, ext. if you really want it, then get it and put a bandage over it… but i tried stretching like two weeks after i got mine and completely forgot about it and it pulled and it hurt REALLY bad for like four days… i threw up and almost passes out cause it hurt so bad… idk if that was just some weird incident though lol… but i would recomend waiting… you might think “oh for stunting i”ll just put a gauze pad or bandaid over it” but in reality you have to think about how much stretching, movement, and akward positions your in for cheering. stunting isnt the only thing to worry about… other things will pull on it too.
