Question by youfoundmetonight: Do you have to be flexible to be a professional dancer/cheerleader?
I kind of want to be a dancer or cheerleader but i’m not that flexible, but i think i can learn quickly. So i want to know if you have to be flexible..

well to be a dancer or cheerleader you dont HAVE to be flexible it just helps you sooo much. but to be a professional dancer or cheerleader i would say yes you do but its not so much about the flexibility that matters its more of strength,balance and movement hope this helps & good luck :]

    Yes, even amateurs need to be flexible… if you cant easily do the splits i’d quickly count yourself out, sorry.

    Oh yes You have to be flexible,however you can learn to get more flexible.When I started I wasn’t even close but then I started a routine,did it 2 times a day’s and now I’m not amazingly flexible but I know if I keep going….

    No, you don’t have to be really flexible to be a dancer or cheerleader. Not everyone is born with the “gift of flexibility”. You can train yourself and your body to get your flexibility where you want it too, once you start. And practice and warming up will increase you flexibility.

    but here’s the good news: if youre Professional, you will have enough training to be flexible.

    i used to be as flexable as a rock and now i can do the splits, thanks to a few months of ballet.

    In order to be a profession you should be fairly flexible. This means splits flat on the floor. It isn’t hard to do this though if you practice. Just hold your splits for 30 seconds on each side everyday and you will be there before you know it.
