What’s the difference between an all-star and rec cheerleading squad?

Question by Nocturne: What’s the difference between an all-star and rec cheerleading squad?
Please tell me everything I need to know about cheerleading. All the basics and stunts I have to learn. And for tryouts, do they teach you a dance and give you time to practice and perfect it?

all star is more hard core cheerleading[ harder jumps, stunts, tumbling]
rec. is really easy compared to all star. its way less of a challenge.

you need to be albe to do:
    toe-touch
    herkie
    cartwheel
    round-off
    backhandspring

you need to have stiff movements and the abillity to dance. just show all the spirit you have!

usually for tryouts we have to do
a toetouch, herkie, ronund off, back hand spring, spotted back tuck[if you cant do it w/o a spot], cheer, 2 dances, and a chant.

pretty easy. we only have 3 days to learn the cheer chant and 2 dances.and there all pretty complicated.

All-star teams do not cheer at games. They exist only to compete. Some Rec teams cheer and compete. Some only cheer, and some only compete. All-star teams tend to cost a lot more, but usually you get more training for the money you pay. They also tend to be better teams overall.

Tryouts depends on the team. Ask the coach what you should expect and what skills you should have. You probably don’t need to know much about stunting yet if this team takes beginners. If they teach you a dance you could have a day, 3 days, or a week to learn and perfect it. Again it depends on how the coach runs things.

Everything else you need to know about cheering (exercises and stretches, motions, jumps, cheers, dancing, stunts, and tumbling) can be found here. There are pictures and videos as well: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/basics.htm

    Good luck!
