If you really want to make Varsity, I suggest you work on your jumps because good jumps means good tumbling, good tumbling means higher chance of making varsity. Start by stretching. Stretch as much as you can then do ten jumps on each leg ( R and L herkie) and ten toe touches. I never liked tumbling either, so I dont think theres anything wrong with that. But maybe you should go to your local cheer gym or gym for gymnastics and see if they have tryout prep-classes, better yet private one-on-one sessions with an experienced coach. It will help ALOT especially since tou have all summer. Trust me.

dance classes would help. i am in dance, gymnastics, and cheer. Gymnastics and dance have helped with cheer tremendously. Stretching everyday also helps for straddles (toe touches) and also hurkeys, hurdlers, and pikes.

Signing up for dance would help, but focusing on tumbling and flexibility will help more. Stretch 5 days a week (you don’t want to hurt yourself by stretching too much, trust me, it hurts) you can also sit in a straddle and lift each leg up and down without letting it touch the ground, then do both at the same time. This strengthens your legs which will help jumps because jumps aren’t only flexibility. Also work on tightening your motions. You can do this by hitting motions repeatedly (ex. high V, clap, low V) For tumbling, privates with a coach are extremely helpful, and when you go ask for exercises that will improve your flaws with tumbling. Don’t be scared to try the tumbling pass if your coach says you can do it! Good luck(:
